What is a QuickStudio backdrop made of?
Our backdrops are printed on premium wrinkle-resistant fabric, designed to look realistic on camera while being lightweight and easy to store.
What sizes are available?
We currently offer two orientations:
- Horizontal (16:9) — 76" wide × 43" tall. Ideal for Zoom, YouTube, and livestreams.
- Vertical (9:16) — 43" wide × 76" tall. Ideal for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts.
Can I get a custom size?
Yes! We can produce backdrops in different sizes. Submit your request through our Custom Backdrop Design page and we’ll get back to you with options.
Will it look realistic on camera?
Yes — our backdrops are designed to be viewed on camera at 3–6 feet away, not up close with the naked eye. The print resolution and depth-of-field effect make them look like a real environment on screen.
Can I use it instead of a Zoom virtual background?
Yes — that’s the idea. The QuickStudio backdrop is a physical backdrop that works with any camera or phone without any software, green screen, plugins, or lag.
What is the best alternative to a Zoom virtual background?
A physical backdrop is an excellent alternative for anyone who wants a consistent, professional background without software effects, green screens, or virtual-background glitches. QuickStudio backdrops are real printed fabric environments that hang on the wall behind you, so Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and your camera simply see a real physical surface.
But not every printed image works as a convincing video-call background. QuickStudio scenes are designed by architects — scale, perspective, spatial proportions, depth, distance, and lighting are intentionally planned so the environment reads as a real room on camera, not as a picture printed on fabric. A scene with even slightly wrong proportions can look fine as a standalone image but gives itself away once it is enlarged and placed behind a real person. QuickStudio is designed specifically for the camera — not simply to look good as an image.
Does a physical backdrop look better than a virtual background?
For most video calls and content, yes. A physical backdrop is a real object the camera is filming, so there are no blurry or flickering edges, no disappearing objects, and no extra load on your computer — the kind of issues that make virtual backgrounds look obviously fake. See our full comparison.
Do I need a green screen?
No. QuickStudio backdrops are physical, not digital, so there’s no green screen, chroma key, or software to configure. The camera simply sees a real printed fabric scene behind you, the same way it would see any other wall.
Does QuickStudio work with Microsoft Teams and Google Meet?
Yes. Because it’s a real physical backdrop and not a software effect, it looks identical on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and any other video platform or recording app — there’s nothing to enable or configure per app.
Can I use the same backdrop for Zoom and recorded video?
Yes. The same backdrop works for live video calls, webinars, and recorded content like YouTube videos or courses — it’s a physical surface, so it looks the same whether you’re on a live call or hitting record.
Can I use a physical backdrop in a bedroom or small apartment?
Yes. A QuickStudio backdrop only needs a section of wall behind your camera — it hangs flat with no stands, tripods, or floor space required, so it works in a bedroom corner, a studio apartment, or any small home office.

Who designs QuickStudio scenes?
Every QuickStudio scene is designed by architects.
A professional video-call backdrop needs more than an attractive image. Scale, perspective, spatial proportions, depth, distance, and lighting all affect how realistic the environment looks once it is printed at full size and placed behind a real person on camera.
What usually gives a backdrop away is proportion: shelves that are too short, books that are too small, doors that are too narrow for a real room. Our architects build each scene with real-world dimensions, so at full print size the objects behind you sit close to the size they would have in an actual room — and the camera reads a space, not a printed picture.

Why are QuickStudio scenes designed by architects?
Because a convincing video-call backdrop is an exercise in spatial design, not just image-making. Architects understand scale, perspective, depth, and how a space reads at full size and from a fixed camera distance — the same skills used to design real rooms. That’s what lets a QuickStudio scene hold up on camera instead of looking like a printed photo.
Can I just print any office image as a backdrop?
You could, but most images aren’t drawn to scale for this use. A stock photo or a generic room image can look convincing on a screen, yet once it’s printed 76 inches wide the shelves, books, and furniture often end up too small or too large next to you — and the camera exposes it right away. QuickStudio scenes are designed by architects with real-world proportions for exactly this use, which is part of what you’re paying for beyond the printed fabric itself.
What makes a backdrop look realistic on camera?
Accurate scale, perspective, and depth relative to where the camera and the person sit — plus lighting that matches how a real room would be lit. Get any of those wrong and a backdrop reads as a flat printed image instead of an actual space, even if the design itself looks appealing as a standalone picture.
Why do scale, perspective and lighting matter in a video-call backdrop?
Because your camera is a fixed viewpoint a specific distance away, not a full-room photo. If a scene’s proportions, vanishing points, or light direction don’t match that viewpoint, the background can look subtly “off” even to viewers who can’t say exactly why — which undermines the professional impression a backdrop is supposed to create.
Are QuickStudio backdrops designed specifically for camera use?
Yes. Every QuickStudio scene is planned around how it will actually be seen — a webcam or phone at a fixed distance, filming a seated or standing person — rather than designed to just look good as a standalone image. That’s the difference between a backdrop and a printed picture.
Installation
What do I need to hang it?
Nothing extra — Command hooks and a full pack of 16 mounting squares are included in your package (you'll use 4 per backdrop). Horizontal backdrops include 4 Command hooks (matching their 4 top grommets); vertical backdrops include 2 Command hooks (matching their 2 top corner grommets). No drilling, no tools required.
How do I hang it?
Put up the included Command hooks following the hanging instructions printed on their packaging, then hang the backdrop through the top grommets — horizontal backdrops have 4 grommets evenly spaced across the top edge, vertical backdrops have 2 grommets at the top corners. Then smooth the fabric outward and press 4 of the included mounting squares into a cross pattern — one at the center of each edge (top, bottom, left, right) — to keep it flat and lightly stretched against the wall. Hanging the backdrop itself takes under 2 minutes.
Will it damage my walls?
Designed to remove cleanly without damaging most properly painted walls. Wall surfaces and paint conditions may vary. Command hooks use a stretch-release adhesive — to remove, hold the base against the wall with one hand and slowly pull the adhesive tab straight down along the wall — never pull it toward you. This helps it release cleanly with minimal risk of marks or residue.
Can I take it down and put it back up?
Yes — that’s the whole point. The fabric rolls or folds for easy storage and re-hangs in seconds.

How far should I sit from a QuickStudio backdrop?
As a general guide, sit about 20–28 in from the backdrop for horizontal (16:9) setups, or stand 16–24 in from it for vertical (9:16) setups — with the camera roughly the same distance in front of you. See the breakdown below for exact numbers by orientation.
What’s the ideal distance between me and the camera?
- 16:9 horizontal: sit 20–28 in from the backdrop, and 20–28 in from the camera.
- 9:16 vertical: stand 16–24 in from the backdrop, and 16–24 in from the camera.
Do I need a ring light?
A ring light isn’t required but is recommended. Position the light directly behind or slightly beside the camera, facing you at eye level or slightly above. Do not place the light behind you or between you and the backdrop.
What phone settings do you recommend?
Set your aspect ratio to 16:9 (horizontal) or 9:16 (vertical), resolution to 1080p or 4K, and make sure your camera lens is at eye level.
Care & Maintenance
How do I clean it?
Spot clean with a damp cloth for most marks. If a deeper clean is needed, hand wash in cold water and hang dry — avoid machine washing, tumble drying, or ironing directly on the print, as these can damage the printed surface.
What if it has wrinkles when it arrives?
When hanging your backdrop for the first time, we recommend going over it with a handheld steamer — it removes any creases from shipping in seconds. After a few minutes of hanging, most wrinkles will also fall out naturally on their own.
How do I store it?
Roll it loosely or fold it. Avoid tight creases. Store in the included bag or any breathable fabric bag.

Where do you ship?
We ship free of charge to all 48 contiguous United States. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is available at checkout.
How long does delivery take?
Standard shipping takes 5-7 business days.
Can I return or exchange my backdrop?
Yes. Ready-to-ship backdrops may be carefully unpacked, hung using the grommets, and evaluated on camera. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery provided the backdrop remains clean, undamaged, unwashed, and in resellable condition. Contact us at hello@getquickstudio.com.
I received the wrong item or it arrived damaged. What do I do?
